Hello everyone. This is a brief follow-up to a message you may or may not have seen yesterday. Yesterday morning, I received a phishing demand claiming that they had seized my blog and that I pay to release the blog or else they would take action to besmirch my reputation–I found that part amusing. I contacted my ISP (Internet Service Provider) and they advised me that that they could see nothing wrong with the blog, but suggested I notify all of you that you might get some weird messages purporting to be from me. I wrote that warning, but apparently it never went out as I posted it. Terri thought she received something from me that was a blank message.
When I tried to edit the post, I discovered that I couldn’t see any of my posts, so under the circumstances, I thought perhaps this was the work of the attackers. As it turned out, this it just a coincidence. I use a packaged bit of programming to send out my notices, and that package needed an update. My ISP simply did what any good computer tech would do–turn it off and then back on again–and all my posts re-appeared.
I can’t promise that the phishers are permanently gone, but I’m now editing this post to inform you, and also to test whether I can post normally again.
Hope this reaches all of you in good health–and humor.
Jack Love
